Before having LASIK, you should talk to our eye doctor about whether or not you are a good candidate for this surgery. You may not be a good candidate for LASIK if you are:

- • Younger than 18
- • Taking certain medications

How LASIK is Performed
Our eye doctor will give you drops to numb your eyes. Mild sedatives are also available upon request. An instrument known as a microkeratome will be used on your cornea to make a thin flap. It will then be peeled back while another laser is used to reshape the tissue. The flap will be put back in its normal place before the surgery is completed. The procedure takes about 20 minutes to perform. You should have someone drive you home afterward.
After surgery, you will be given prescription eye drops to prevent infection and inflammation. These drops will also keep your eyes moist. You may experience a slight burning sensation and blurry vision following the procedure, but these side-effects will dissipate quickly.
